Co-Ownership for a show potential puppy.  A co-ownership on this puppy has been given to ______Your_Name_______________.
As the purchaser of this puppy, I understand that I will be listed as the owner of the dog and Cherish DeWitt will be listed as the co-owner. This puppy will reside in owner’s home (Purchaser) and will be owners responsibility. I am solely responsible for said dogs clearances and any unforeseen expenses incurred by owning said puppy. In the event that the owner would like this puppy shown, Legend Lake agrees to waive handling fees if shown by us.  Entry fees are the responsibility of the owner.  Veterinary bills, feed, and care are the responsibility of the owner listed above while the puppy resides with this owner.  The breeder will put the dog in both names and have a duplicate copy of the registration papers sent to the owner.
Owner agrees to show this dog and work toward earning his AKC CH title in the United states. I also understand that this dog is mine to use in my breeding program to dogs that I own. This dog is not to be used for breeding dogs that I do not own without the written consent from the co-owner listed above. This is an understanding that I agree with and appreciate the opportunity to own and show this Legend puppy. Should I for any unforeseen reason be unable to keep this puppy, First right of refusal will be granted to Cherish DeWitt owner of Legend Papillons.

Breeders Guarantee:  All puppies carry a 5 day health guarantee.  If during that period the puppy becomes seriously ill and a veterinarian can attribute that illness to us, we will refund the purchase price of the puppy upon the immediate return of the puppy.  Beyond that period, regular deworming, cocciddia checks, proper diet, proper weight, inoculations and nutrition are the responsibility of the purchaser.  Puppy will need a regular series of shots every two-three weeks until it is 16 weeks of age. We strongly recommend you follow your veterinarian’s protocol for your dog.  Heart guard is necessary to protect every dog from heart worms that are life threatening.

A replacement puppy will be offered for any of the following defects within 26 months of purchase

  1. Crippling patella luxation requiring surgery or euthanasia.
  2. Eye problems causing blindness of genetic origin.  (Written documentation is required from two qualified veterinarians or veterinary ophthalmologists.  Seller will have a choice of veterinarians for second opinion.  If the dog is still able to serve as a useful pet, it must be returned to the seller before a replacement puppy will be issued.  If this animal has been bred, this contract is null and void.

Buyer’s Responsibilities: The buyer agrees to accept the duties of a responsible dog owner which include

  1. The seller has first right of refusal should the buyer be unable to keep this dog for any reason it will be returned to the seller.  If the seller is able to re-home the dog, the sale profit will be forwarded to the original purchaser of said puppy.
  2. A completely fenced yard or dog run.  The dog will never be allowed to run loose which is against the law in most states.
  3. Proper diet and veterinary care along with maintaining proper weight.  Hip displasia caused by obesity is not covered in this contract.
  4. Provide adequate training including attending formal puppy classes to properly socialize and train the dog. Classes should have a positive approach without choke collars and other unnecessary harsh equipment.
  5. Update shots annually, do blood work for heart worms and follow a veterinarian’s care plan for the dogs’ protection and well-being.
  6. Should this puppy be denied proper veterinary care, proper diet or shelter from severe weather and temperatures, or Violation of the contract in any way the purchaser surrenders the right of ownership and the seller has the right to remove the dog.
  7. Seller agrees to provide eye clearance and heart clearance before using this dog for breeding.
  8. Any dog bred without clearances become the property of the seller.
  9. Buyer agrees to never breed this dog except to quality Papillons with clearances and a show history in the breed ring.
